Mike Chasar

[O]ur foremost investigator of poetry as a popular practice
— Rita Raley, University of California, Santa Barbara

I’m the author or editor of five books and a Professor of English at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. I study and teach about American literature, popular culture and popular music, modernism, media studies, and Shakespeare, with a particular focus on poetry in public life and popular culture.

I have received a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, a Kluge Fellowship at the Library of Congress, a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipend, and, long ago, an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artists Fellowship.
